At only five and a half years old, we lost Ruby on December 16, 2006 to cancer. At Thanksgiving we noticed that she was sensitive to touch around her left eye. Within three weeks, she had been diagnosed with cancer in her sinus cavity and her quality of life deteriorated so rapidly that I could not watch her suffer any longer and there was nothing that could be done to save Ruby given the location of the cancer. My 100% lab who fetched incessantly wouldn't even lift her head to acknowledge we were there. I miss her tremendously and have made a donation in her memory on this first anniversary of her death. Miss Ruby touched me in ways you cannot imagine and I will forever hold her in my heart.
