Don’t buy pet foods blindly..
I was really shocked to read a news item on high fluoride content in dog foods the other day.
An Environmental Working Group (EWG) through their research has found that foods like bone meals and animal by products have high fluoride contamination. It is in fact 2.5 times higher than the permissible limit.
So next time, you go shopping for pet foods, look out for items like chicken by-product meal, poultry by-product meal, chicken meal and beef meal.
There are also certain other things that you should never forget to check like the source of oil, the amount and quality of ingredients and the credibility of the manufacturer. Since our friends cannot speak, it is absolutely our responsibility to look after all their needs and give them a safe and secure world to live in.

I agree, that we should be careful on buying food for our pets. We should be aware of the contents, like fluoride, which is highly toxic for their body. Fluoride is only good for our teeth, but it is not good if we ingest it.

There are also several dog foods that are human quality, one being Blue Buffalo.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I agree with you that fluoride is good for teeth. But its effective only if you apply topically. Ingested fluoride not only damages teeth but also the entire musculoskeletal system.
It accumulates in bones and increases the risk of osteosarcoma (primary bone cancer). And you would be surprised to know that dogs are even more vulnerable to osteosarcoma than humans. A report released by Environmental Working Group, said that more than 8,000 osteosarcoma cases in dogs are reported each year in the US and the actual number is probably higher, since all cases are not confirmed and registered.
