Buddy was diagnosed 1 week ago today with anal gland carcenoma. I took him there for a rash and some abnormal stool due to a change in his food. His doctor said she wanted to check his anal glands only to find a tiny tumor she spoke with another doctor at the hospital and they both felt he needed to see a surgeon. The surgeon saw him the same day they did a chest x-ray which came back normal, then proceded to do an ultra sound and aspiration of the tumor which confimed the worst that it was a cancer and had spread to a few lymph nodes in his pelvic area. The next day we met with the oncologist you also confirmed the diagnosis and advised to put him on chemo drugs immediately so that day he had his first dose of Pamidronate which brought his calcium level back to normaland just went on 10-5-07 for his first dose of chemo. They told us that all his levels are normal a! nd that this disease did not affect any of his organs yet that is why it is so important to keep him strong to fight this. My husband and I together had a limit on Care Credit of 3,000 dollars we used every penny that we had available to pay for the charges so far along with borrowing money. Some people do not understand why we would want to spend money with no guarantee on how long he will live I cannot explain the love I have for this kid and his sister too that I am willing to go down every avenue I can find to help my SON live as long for as long as possible without pain. As you and I mentioned I do not have any children he is my son and my life.
