Holly was a perfectly healthy and happy Golden Retriever mix.  Four days before her 10th birthday she had a "spell" when she tried to get up to go to bed for the evening and collapsed.  Holly and I spent that night together on the floor and first thing in the morning we were on our way to the vets.  Five days later, after an emergency spleenectome, I received the devastating news that my beautiful girl had hemangiosarcoma and was going to die.  While this form of cancer is always fatal, my vets were optimistic that Holly's surgery and some diet and supplement changes we decided to make would give us several months together versus the usual 1-3 months a hemangiosarcoma diagnosis usually means.  Unfortunately, fate had other plans and I was only given 4 short weeks.  Hemangiosarcoma is currently undetectable until it is pretty advanced and there is no cure, yet.  You may be able to help change that.  The National Canine Cancer Foundation is funding research and making advances in the areas of treatment and early detection of canine cancer.  These advances will without a doubt aid in the advancement of research in human cancer as well.  If you know how much losing Holly hurt or if you've lost a four legged friend of your own, you can make a difference.  1 out of 3 dogs will develop cancer with 50% of them losing their battle.  For Golden Retrievers like Holly and my new girl Gracie, the odds are even more dire with 65-75% of this beautiful breed dying from cancer.  Dog's give love unconditionally, ask for very little in return and are true friends to those who love them.  Please make a donation now and make a difference in their lives.
