Fur Fun Flyball Fund-Raiser Raises $7,000

The Fur Fun flyball club recently spear headed an effort to raise more than $7,000 for the National Canine Cancer Foundation.
The fund-raiser  - Coconuts for the Cure - culminated at the club’s annual Coconut Classic tournament that took place June 26-27 in York, Pa. The NAFA-sanctioned event has an island motif and teams decorate their crating areas in Hawaiian themes.

This year, Fur Fun challenged participating teams to a competition to raise funds for the NCCF, and the clubs really rose to the challenge with a number of creative fund-raisers.

The winning team – New River Rapids of Virginia – raised more than $2000 by making and selling tug toys. The team captain, Sharon Harrell, has a border collie that is battling cancer and matched the sale of every tug by her team members.

The team won a free entry to next year’s Coconut Classic and a gift basket.

Other club fund-raisers included:

• Happily Evfur After – Glass Pendants
• Revolution Flyball – Tweaks Tug toys
• Two Lane Highway – Dog Caricatures from photos
• Doggone Fast – Dog photography and skid boots
• Scallywags – Homemade Dog Treats

A vendor, Products4Pets, also contributed a percentage of all its sales at the tournament to NCCF.
