Preliminary Grant Application

At present, we are requiring a Preliminary Grant Application and, if after reviewing the preliminary application we feel that there is enough interest in the project, we will require the applicant to submit a Full Grant Application.

The Preliminary Grant Application should include the following:

PROJECT TITLE
Provide a concise title to your work. Once the preliminary application has been submitted via the Foundation’s website you may not change the project title.

FUNDING REQUESTED
Please include your budget for the project which 11.1% may be used for institutional overhead

SCIENTIFIC ABSTRACT
Briefly describe your proposed research in 200 words or less using technical language. Once the preliminary application has been submitted via Foundation’s email, the lay abstract may not change.

LAY ABSTRACT
Briefly describe your proposed research in 200 words or less using non-technical language. Once the preliminary application has been submitted via Foundation’s email, the lay abstract may not change.

In both abstracts, the researchers should clearly establish the significance of their proposed research. Successful proposals will include information and statistics, if available, regarding the impact on: 1) affected dogs and/or 2) breeds of dogs, and 3) the canine population in general.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
A brief biographical sketch for all key personnel must be included. For the preliminary application, it’s not required that the format and content be similar a NIH biographical sketch however it should briefly, with no more than one page per biography, contains Education and Training, Professional Experience, and Research Experience.
